Digital Wide Format Printer Provides Flexibility

A Ricoh UK product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Dec 5, 2005

Ricoh UK has launched what it claimed to be its fastest wide format device to date.

Ricoh UK has launched what it claimed to be its fastest wide format device to date.

The Aficio 480W is said to be capable of producing six metres per minute at 600 dots per inch (dpi) and its small foot-print makes it suitable for any design or print environment with limited space.

The Aficio 480W utilises the same touch-screen panel as Ricoh's MFDs, making the device easier to operate for individuals familiar with regular Ricoh office peripherals, said the company.

It is also the first wide format product in the Ricoh range to be GW Architecture-enabled, which allows users to build a bespoke wide format system by adding modules as they are required.

Mark Griffin, professional solutions manager at Ricoh UK, said: "Flexibility and wide format rarely go hand in hand.

The Aficio 480W is not only faster and smaller, but also has more scalable functions and is easier to use than its predecessors." Its design allows the device to be placed close to users, enabling them to check plots and scans directly from their desks.

The machine's space-saving ability is enhanced by a full-frontal operational design, making it easy to use and maintain, whilst minimising operational errors, and removes the need to move the device away from the wall, added Ricoh.

Fully integrated with industry standard packages, including AutoCAD, Bentley and Windows, the Aficio 480W provides scanning up to 256 grey scales.

With paper stocks ranging from A4 to A0, it can also accommodate up to four paper rolls or two rolls plus two cassettes to meet even the highest volume demands, said Ricoh.

The Aficio 480W is available now priced at GBP18,995 (RRP).
