Ricoh UK is debuting its colour screen technology on two new multi-functional devices, the MP C2500 and MP C3000, to make its products more accessible.

The new colour screen is claimed to display text and images as sharp as they appear on a PC monitor and it has the capability to enlarge text for users with visual impairments.

It can also alternate between RGB colour mode and a CMYK setting making it easier for those who are colour blind to operate.

Eddie Hall, product manager at Ricoh, explained: "Colour screens are now commonplace on everyday technology, such as PDAs and mobile phones, so it was inevitable that this feature would be available on MFDs.

But the panel is more than just a trend, offering greater accessibility to the technology for all users." Animated characters on the display screen offer step by step instructions on how to rectify routine problems, whilst the operation panel can also be used as a viewing screen, so users can check documents before sending and storing them to an email address or folder.

Besides the colour screen, the MP C2500 and MP C3000 are claimed to have outputs of 25 and 30 pages per minute, respectively, for colour and monochrome printing, whilst their finish and paper handling capabilities (up to 215gsm) make them suitable for proposals, forms and invoices.

An optional booklet maker is also available.

Both products also offer security features, such as authentication, temporary data overwriting and unauthorised copy prevention, to safeguard information.

The MP C2500 and MP C3000 are available now from GBP9,595 and GBP11,495.

All Ricoh products are RoHS compliant from July, in keeping with its continuing commitment to the environment, added Ricoh.
