Ricoh is set to demonstrate its forthcoming range of software designed to optimise its range of hardware for CRDs and data centres at the Digital Print World exhibition The company will unveil Objectif Lune's Planetpress Suite, a transactional and variable data printing system

According to Ricoh, with many data centres and central reprographic departments currently issuing large print jobs on low quality and inflexible devices, Planetpress Suite is designed to help users manage and streamline their workflows.

The system is claimed to allow users to automate the distribution of documents, simultaneously printing, emailing, faxing and archiving.

Whilst traditional transactional printing requires pre-printed forms, Planetpress Suite reduces costs by allowing users to digitally create their business documents, allowing for real-time maintenance.

Planetpress Suite can be used, for example, to produce personal direct mail shots or high-volume complex transactional printing integrating variable data, said Ricoh.

Ricoh will also preview Mercury, from Docuform, a server based print management system, which interprets a range of datastreams, freeing organisations from the constraints of legacy systems through the use of Ricoh printers, whilst continuing to use existing templates, forms and fonts.

Mercury can also eliminate redundancy issues via re-routing and load-splitting across the network, it is claimed.

It also offers a range of additional facilities, such as accounting and workflow management.

Both products will be formally launched later this year.

Chas Moloney, associate director of marketing at Ricoh, explained: "We are previewing these system at Digital Print World to underline our credentials in this market.

Ricoh's Digital Print World debut is being used to highlight our long-term commitment to developing systems and strategic partnerships, which will enhance our customers' business." Ricoh will also be demonstrating Microspress Universal Print Server, including the new Micropress Pro Series 7.0 software and Digital Store Front system.

The eCopy software for scanning and document distribution will be on show, as will two Aficio 5560cs, high volume colour multi-function devices (MFDs) featuring the EFI fiery RIP and finishing.

DPW will see Ricoh's HQ9000, a high speed, heavy-duty digital duplicator and the new Aficio MP C4500, a colour capable MFD targeted at large workgroups.

There will also be two MP 1350, high volume MFDs, each displaying different finishing options, including the GBC Streampunch and the Plocmatic booklet maker.

Ricoh Printing Systems' data centre printers running at up to a claimed 184 pages per minute (ppm) and offering high volume spot colour, (EMP156, DDP184 and DDP92) will be at DPW.

The Aficio 480W, a compact wide format printer and Ricoh's customisation capability via its software development kit (SDK) will also be available for visitors.
