With after-market mirror glass for cars, van or even lorries, there is a good chance it was produced by Summit Accessories in Banbury (UK).

Most of the glass is sealed in a blister on a card that carries both a written description of the make, model and type of vehicle and also a bar code.

Meeting customer delivery requirements for a range of variants meant keeping a large stock of preprinted cards and also hand applying a range of labels for the less common ranges.

Whilst retaining some pre-printed cards for the highest volume variants, Summit wanted to be able to print the rest of the cards on demand and to include an EAN barcode in the same area as the product description.

That is where Rotech came in.

By supplying one of its Bell-Mark thermal transfer printers in combination with a card feeder, the company said it was able to offer everything Summit needed.

The Versastyle software allowed all the formats to be stored on a dedicated PC and its font scaling permitted large amounts of product information to be fitted in to the designated overprint area.

Rotech added that it was also able to supply a thermal ribbon to adhere to the adhesive coating on the card whilst providing a first class print quality.
