Roland DG said that its presence at Drupa 2008 will presage its entry in to new markets with products that will include a new printing system.

The company's stand at Drupa - stand B37 in hall five - will also feature large format printers and integrated printer-cutters used to produce indoor and outdoor graphics.

They include the latest in what is claimed to be the world's best-selling series of printer-cutters, the Versacamm VP-300/540 and the newest models in the Soljet Pro III series.

The Soljet range includes the XC-540, XC-540W and the XJ-640, as well as the Advancedjet AJ-740.

Roland DG said that with those machines, sign makers are able to produce decals, vehicle graphics, banners, posters and billboards.

Visitors to Drupa will see demonstrations of proofing, short-run labels and prototyping, whilst canvas and photograph printing will be shown for the production of fine art print.

The company added that Drupa also presents the opportunity for the company to demonstrate applications and systems for a range of markets and how its proprietary hardware, software and inks combine to provide efficiency.

The Intelligent Pass Control, which is a combination of Roland's Versaworks RIP software and printer firmware that is claimed to improve the XC-540's quality, even in higher speed modes.

The system is said to control dot placement to enhance print quality in every print mode by creating smoother gradations and solid colours.

Roland DG will also showcase its Value-Up initiative, which was launched in February to allow users of the XC-540 printer-cutter to download the latest software and firmware upgrades without charge.

Registered customers also receive the newest media flanges for free.
