Rotocontrol introduces S-Drive system

A Rotocontrol product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Mar 16, 2009

Rotocontrol has launched a system that is claimed to provide high-speed inspection, cutting and rewinding finishing for the label industry.

According to the company, its S-Drive (servo drive) machines ensure 100 per cent stable control of the web with multiple options in its RSI range, as well as its smaller, more basic RSC models.

Each machine is said to enable maximum web control for the most delicate film and foil materials.

Rotocontrol claims that it has integrated the latest inspection, slitting and die-cutting technology in its machines, including driven elements using S-Drive to provide an electronically synchronised drive system, while providing operator-friendly complete control of the web at any speed (up to 320m/min).

Those facets are said to be important for film and foil material applications.

S-Drive keeps the machine stable even while it is performing at higher speeds through ramp-up to full-stop.

The system also offers soft wrapping, low maintenance, an error analysis program and a graphical user interface.

Rotocontrol said that the system provides customers with complete systems that offer consistent performance, low maintenance, lower tension and higher speeds, while facilitating job setup and operation, together with telephone support from technicians.

The Rotocontrol RSI slitter-rewinder-inspection machines are supplied with S-Drive web control, onboard unwind, label and length counting and crush knife slitting among other features.

With a modular structure it can also be individually tailored to customer needs or be upgraded.

Modules currently available include inspection, shear and razor slitting, die cutting (with or without registration), sheeting, separate unwind and laminating and printing modules.

Dual-pass pharmaceutical machines allow re-inspection of corrected faults without rewinding, offering reliable solutions for sophisticated applications, according to the company.
