The Research and Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership has named Scott Repa as its pressroom operations manager of the year.

The Research and Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership has named Scott Repa, pressroom operations manager at Brown Printing, East Greenville, Pennsylvania (USA) as its third pressroom operations manager of the year.

The award, presented at the 30th annual R and E Council 'productivity in the pressroom' conference in Chicago, recognises an individual who personifies the principles of leadership in pressroom management and who has a proven record of providing outstanding service for customers and creating value for his or her company.

In announcing the award, Ron Mihills, managing director of the R and E Council of NAPL said: "This award was created to honour those who excel in the challenging arena of pressroom operations." Repa, upon accepting the award, commented: "The printing business is a never-ending opportunity to learn.

People use our products every day and people in few other industries can boast that their work influences everyone every day." Since 1950, the R and E Council said it has been dedicated to the education of printing industry personnel in the latest technologies and productivity improvement methods.

It conducts seminars at which publishers, printers, educators, consultants and suppliers meet to share information and learn about technologies affecting the graphic arts industry.

At three annual seminars for the pressroom, bindery and the digital smart factory, the latest technologies are reviewed in the context of actual print production.

The Council also holds technology breakfasts at key industry trade shows and an annual meeting highlighting critical trends in the graphic arts industry.
