Vincent Iacobelli, the bindery manager of National Publishing Company, has been named the 2005 Binding, Finishing and Distribution Operations Manager of the Year by the R and E Council of NAPL.

First presented in 2004, the award is made annually to a post-press manager with a proven record of providing outstanding service for customers and creating value for his or her company.

The honour was bestowed on Iacobelli at the R and E Council 47th Annual Binding, Finishing and Distribution Seminar in Chicago.

In announcing the award, Ronald L Mihills, R and E Council managing director, said: "Vince Iacobelli has been employed by National Publishing Company in Philadelphia since 1965.

He began work as a folder operator and advanced through the ranks until today he manages a three-shift, 185-employee operation.

His bindery workforce has an average length of service exceeding 17 years, which is testimony to his leadership and insistence on training on all bindery equipment.

His department is responsible for binding more than 30 million book annually.".
