The Research and Engineering Council of the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has called for nominations for its pressroom operations manager of the year award.

The winner will be named on November 2 at the 31st annual R and E Council Productivity in the Pressroom Conference in Chicago.

The award recognises an individual who personifies the principles of leadership in pressroom operations management, and who has a proven record of providing outstanding service for customers and creating value for his or her company.

The 2004 award was presented to Scott Repa, pressroom manager at Brown Printing, East Greenville, Pennsylvania (USA).

Ron Mihills, the managing director of the R and E Council of NAPL, said: "This award is presented annually to honour those who excel in the challenging arena of pressroom management.

It is not meant for company presidents and owners but for individuals who are integrally involved in pressroom production activities, including, but not limited to, pressroom managers, plant managers, or plant engineers." Nominations for the award may be submitted by co-workers, company owners, suppliers, or industry colleagues.

In addition to a completed application form, letters of recommendation and support of the nomination are welcome said the R and E Council.

Nomination forms, which are due by August 31, may be downloaded from the NAPL website.
