A SandyScreen AG product story

Pforzheimer Zeitung and the St.Galler Tagblatt printers have switched their entire production to the new Sandystar screening technology for printing their daily and weekly products.

Pforzheimer Zeitung and the St.Galler Tagblatt printers have switched their entire production to the new Sandystar screening technology for printing their daily and weekly products.

That development follows the successful application of Sandy Professional screening by five members of the IFRA Colour Quality Club 2006-2008, two of whom are Pforzheimer Zeitung and the St.Galler Tagblatt.

In addition to Sandy Professional's claimed no dot closure and no loss of data in print, for instance, Sandystar allows an increase in the screen frequency to 133 lines per inch for newspapers and to 200 lines per inch for magazines and supplements.

The geometry of Sandystar is said to create in print double the screen frequency chosen without increasing the exposure time, resulting in a level of quality not reached so far in offset printing.

Sandyscreen said that Sandystar can be used as a subsitute for traditional AM, or as alternative to FM or hybrid screening.

It can be applied for all printing modes and products.

The Pforzheimer Zeitung and Sandyscreen will present the Sandystar QMscreen at a workshop in Pforzheim at a date to be announced.
