New Flexo Press For Flexible Materials
One hundred and fifty international visitors to the Schiavi Open House in Piacenza (Italy) saw the Italian manufacturer's new EF 4060 flexo press for flexible materials.
Details of the operation and productivity of the machines were presented and explained to the public for each of the lines, providing visitors with the opportunity to see, first hand, the different equipment and how to achieve its optimum performance.
Flexo printing demonstrations saw both 8c and 10c presses from Schiavi's latest generation electronic EF 40 series confirm their promise of producing top quality high-end graphics, claimed the company.
Each demonstration included a job change and the four printed subjects featured different types of criticality to demonstrate the printing obtainable with the EF 4040 and EF 5040 presses under any circumstances.

Ink Viscometer Fits Between Pump And Press
The newest addition to the Brookfield range of process viscometers is the AST100 viscosity sensor.
Both flexo presses are characterised by a modular and fully integrated architecture that enables maximisation of press performance and productivity, together with operator-friendly features, said Schiavi.
Demonstrations also showed the speed of make-ready and job change-overs of the random deck change feature that enables the operator to change the plate cylinders sleeves or the anilox roller sleeves on any printing deck not in use whilst the press is in production, added the company.
The demonstrations on the CL 660 coater-laminator showed the Schiavi multifunction machine produce duplex laminates by means of different types of applications every day of the open house, including solventless, solvent-based, water-based lamination and cold-seal coating.
The company said that the application of different technologies is made possible by the use of different trolleys and touch screen recall of the dedicated software program for automatic machine configuration.
The laminated duplex structures were subsequently slit in to five smaller reels on a Titan SR8 slitter rewinder to complete the presentation of the systems for converting flexible materials offered by Bobst Group companies.
The SR8 slitter rewinder is the latest generation cantilever machine in the SR series from Titan.
The machine demonstrated had an integral unwind stand and was running at 600 metres per minute.
Stacked knife shafts were utilised, together with a pneumatic friction braking system and an edge trim extraction system was also fitted to the machine.
Schiavi also began a number of sales negotiations during the event.
