Since the installation of a new Schiavi EF 4040 8c electronic flexo press, Buxton-based UK flexible packaging converter Primopost has seen the press performing at the highest levels of cost-effectiveness and profitability.
Primopost, whose flexo printing equipment includes a Schiavi 8c Sigma flexo press installed in 2004, said both machines fully meet the company's requirements for improved efficiency through ease of operation, fast job changes and excellent print quality output.
Primopost is a supplier of printed and plain flexible packaging.
The strong emphasis that the company has placed on technological innovation since it was set up in 1987 has enabled it to grow steadily, expanding its operation to include an increasingly wide range of products.
Today its operations include almost every aspects of converting, from design service, to plain and flexo printed films production, lamination, cold seal coating, and slitting rewinding for the food and non-food packaging industries.
Primopost's new 1,320 mm web width EF 4040 flexo press is targeted at the efficient, low cost production of printed packaging materials through technical features that are claimed to provide for very fast job make-ready and change-overs, as well as press ergonomic systems for time-saving operator-friendly press control.
The press is equipped with a Deco Art automatic register control system that ensures accurate in-register print throughout the production runs and is instrumental in minimising film wastage, said the company.
Rob Donaldson, Primopost's production director, said: "The print quality results are so impressive that the EF 4040 substantially narrows the gap between flexo and gravure quality and thanks to major improvements in turn-around times, we are now able to serve customers with increasingly shorter orders more efficiently." He added: "The new press has provided our operations with the improved efficiency we were looking for to further improve the volume flexibility and service we can offer our customers, whilst meeting the increasingly diversified requirements of the flexible packaging sector.".
