Mid-East Flexo Installation Uses New System
Plasto-Sac, a growing packaging producer in the Middle East, is installing a Comexi wide-web CI flexographic press designed to use Sun Chemical's patented Wetflex EC printing process.
Sun said it is based on building a colour library with specific, measurable attributes that allows exact colour choice and control.
Smartcolour employs a system of computerised tools to measure and visualise colour choices.
One key element is the Preview software, which places a digitally defined colour into separated designs to easily and dramatically demonstrate its appearance on a given substrate.
"I am very encouraged by the results we are achieving with Smartcolour," said Gordon Stone, director of colour management for Sun Chemical Europe Packaging Inks.
"I genuinely believe those of us in the packaging industry facing the need for colour consistency using many different processes, inks and substrates, will benefit greatly from what Smartcolour has to offer," he added.
For brand owners, Smartcolour can speed the approvals process and lower costs by reducing guesswork on colour choices while harmonising colours to promote a targeted image.
Printers should be able to lower total costs, improve press utilisation, reduce waste and be able to offer certified colour guarantees, he commented.
"Variations in colour can diminish the value of a brand.
Now Smartcolour offers brand managers and printers a way of controlling the variables, utilising consistent products and procedures wherever they do business around the globe," explained Sun Chemical's corporate vice president, Chris Morrissey.
