A new UV platform technology for inks and coatings is being offered by Sun Chemical.

A new UV platform technology for inks and coatings is being offered by Sun Chemical M-Cure is a new UV photoinitiator package primarily for use when printing sensitive food, drug and cosmetic packaging with UV products

The product is claimed to dramatically reduce odours and off-taste concerns sometimes associated with UV printing.

It also introduces a new level of safety in these critical packaging areas.

M-Cure technology can be used in offset and flexo inks, as well as UV coatings.

John Adkin, sheetfed product director for Sun Chemical Europe, said: "For many years converters have been using UV-cured inks in packaging but with some limitations for food packaging applications.

Now, Sun Chemical is offering a new package of photoinitiators that avoid materials migration and can be safely used in these sensitive applications.".
