Mid-East Flexo Installation Uses New System
Plasto-Sac, a growing packaging producer in the Middle East, is installing a Comexi wide-web CI flexographic press designed to use Sun Chemical's patented Wetflex EC printing process.
Dosages are controlled, thus saving money by using less product.
It is claimed that as well as improving efficiency, the unit allows the pressroom to be tidied up.
Totes of solvents can be discreetly hidden inside or outside the pressroom and the mixing unit will pump the solvent mix straight to the press.
No electrical supply is need, just compressed air and mains water.
A specially designed shut-off valve again aids cleanliness by avoiding drips when the unit is switched off said Webxtras.
Webxtras has 16 Automixer solvent mixers at work in the UK newspaper industry including the Northcliffe Group's Derby Evening Telegraph and the News International, Smurfit operation at Kells in Ireland.
Webxtras' managing director, Colin Norgate, commented: "The unit takes responsibility away from the operator, takes out the variables and helps create a much cleaner and tidier pressroom environment." The company said that customer reaction to the Automixer has been equally enthusiastic.
Philip Clark, the director of production at Kells said: "We are using less solvent and improving efficiency since we moved over to the Webxtras Automixer - we are delighted." And David Booth, the pressroom manager at the Derby Telegraph added: "The Automixer is so simple to use and guarantees consistency in solvent usage.".
