Mid-East Flexo Installation Uses New System
Plasto-Sac, a growing packaging producer in the Middle East, is installing a Comexi wide-web CI flexographic press designed to use Sun Chemical's patented Wetflex EC printing process.
That incorporates the sheetfed commercial and heatset businesses and all changes are meeting specific market-focused needs in a changing marketplace, said Sun.
The realignment of the business follows Sun Chemical acquiring UK packaging-focused companies, introducing new product lines and investing in new printing ink customer service centres in Derbyshire and in Berkshire.
The company said that the decision to further strengthen the commercial sector was made after careful analysis of market needs.

Digital Ink Development For Corrugated Packaging
Sun Chemical's partnership with Inca Digital Printers has yielded high-speed digital ink jet technology for the direct printing of corrugated packaging claimed Sun.
Those requirements included the fact that sheetfed commercial is a business dynamic that is more reactive to the needs of small customers, where rapid response and delivery are important requirements.
On the other hand, heatset services have a few, large, long-term accounts.
Peter Elliott, who heads Sun Chemical UK's commercial business including sheetfed and heatset, said: "The expanded, dedicated sales and technical services team, coupled with the investment in our service centres and new product lines, has given us a firm footing to grow our business that is dedicated on our commercial customers in an ever-changing marketplace." Charles Murray, Sun Chemical's corporate vice-president and UK general manager, said: "This re-energising of the UK offset structure is part of our wider growth and investment strategy within packaging and commercial printing.
We can provide superior service to our growing customer base through a stronger emphasis on the commercial sector.
Our customers need a company that is backed by global resources but delivers locally." Last September, Sun Chemical announced the acquisition of UK graphic arts specialist Watt Gilchrist, in Leeds and packaging design and brand development firm Parker Williams Design in London.
At the same time it opened what it claimed is the UK's most modern and automated supply location for sheetfed and UV inks, varnish and consumables by redeveloping and modernising its South Normanton, Derbyshire, national distribution and customer service centre in a GBP1.8million expansion.
Upgrading work has also been completed at Sun's site in Slough, Berkshire.
New product lines have included Sun Chemical's EOST High Speed four-colour, sheetfed offset process inks and the development of new low migration inks under the Irocart and Suncure brands for the sheetfed offset market.
