A new managing director for Sun Chemical's European screen and circuits business has been appointed - John Law.

He will be responsible for Sun Chemical's European screen, circuits and industrial inks businesses and will retain his responsibilities for the global digital division at the same time Law takes over from Richard Martin, who will now oversee Sun Chemical's global toners business until his retirement at the end of this year

He joined Sun Chemical in a technical capacity in 1980 after graduating from University of Bath with a BSc (honours) in chemistry and later received a master's degree in business administration from Canterbury Business School at the University of Kent.

He moved to the United States in 1994 as executive vice-president for toners when the division was growing rapidly.

On returning to the UK in 1997, Law was appointed general manager for screen inks UK and then to general manager for digital in 2001.

David Meldram, corporate senior vice president and president of Sun Chemical European inks, said: "John Law has demonstrated a talent for commercial affairs and a high level of business acumen that has allowed him to thrive at Sun Chemical.

We are delighted John has agreed to step up to this challenging role and his new team in the European screen and circuits division is looking forward to welcoming him and supporting him in his day-to-day business affairs.".
