Sun Chemical Launches Localised UK Support Service

What is claimed to be a quick, local and professional service to commercial offset printers, Sun Chemical's Rapide has been introduced as a new UK-wide network of authorised dealers.

According to Sun Chemical, the Rapide name reflects the network's focus on speed, which is critical in today's printing market, where shorter deadlines and increasing competition put everybody under pressure to improve service.

Rapide consists of partners selected by Sun Chemical to ensure printers can continue to buy Sun's products with the benefit of a local, professional service.

The network, which will focus on providing added customer service to printing businesses in the UK, will be managed by Colin Norgate, UK director of value services, who will report to Steve Bell, the newly-appointed sales director for Sun Chemical's Commercial Offset division, said the company.

A chemistry graduate from Lancaster University, Bell has worked in the chemical industry for 15 years.

He has significant experience in a diverse range of markets, from plastics to textile colouration and he provides expertise from his previous role as global sales and marketing director for Holliday Pigments.

Bell said: "The added customer focus within our UK commercial business unit has given us a firm footing to grow our business in an changing marketplace.

With the Rapide network we can offer customers improved service in terms of speed and competence, as our distributors have been fully trained on our product range and can tap in to our resources when it comes to experience, innovation and troubleshooting skills." He added: "In addition, distributors have the advantage of being local to our customers and can provide inks and consumables faster, as well as responding to service issues more quickly and efficiently.

We believe very strongly in quality customer service and will continue to sell directly to those customers that require it.

However, the Rapide network can be regarded as an extension of our own team, providing the full package of consumables, inks and service.".
