Sherwood Technology, the colour change chemistry specialist, has appointed David Miller to lead the company's business development activities as interest grows for its Datalase coding and marking technology.
Datalase is a non-toxic and environmentally friendly ink, coating, or substrate additive.
When exposed to low power CO2 laser emissions at high speed, it provides a completely customisable solution for image generation, which is virtually maintenance free.
Sherwood said it would benefit from Miller's in depth understanding of laser products and applications, and his established reputation in the field.
With 25 years experience, he will focus on identifying, developing and maintaining customer relationships.
His role will be instrumental in generating new partnerships and agreements and ensuring that all new Datalase implementations are supported by expert technical advice and project management.
Prior to joining Sherwood, Miller was a consultant with Xpirt Ltd, advising a range of companies in different industries on the use of laser technology.
A laser expert, Miller has held a number of technical, marketing and management positions within the laser industry since graduating with a BSc in physics from Liverpool University in 1979.
He began his career specifying CO2 TEA Lasers for MoD contracts at Marconi Avionics.
He then held a number of technical and managerial roles at Technology Systems Ltd and then at Linx Printing Technologies plc, with responsibilities spanning research and development, engineering, product marketing and business development of laser products.
Commenting on Miller's appointment, Steve Kelly, managing director of Sherwood Technology, said: "We are delighted to welcome David to the team.
He brings invaluable insight, knowledge and technical expertise to Sherwood as we embark on an ambitious programme to license and implement our Datalase technology.".
