Deal Enables Colour Change Product To Extend Reach

Sherwood Technology, the colour change specialist, has announced a collaboration with Rad-Cure, the ultra-violet curable coatings, adhesives and specialty inks manufacturer.

The agreement sees Rad-Cure marketing a range of inks produced from Sherwood's patented colour-change chemistry, Datalase, via a non-exclusive supply license agreement.

It will enable the New Jersey (USA) company to make Datalase branded inks available to its global market, as part of a total printing and marking service to a wide range of market sectors including pharmaceutical and food and beverage applications, labels, flexible packaging, paper and board packaging.

Rad-Cure serves diverse markets with its range of printing inks including labelling, glass decorating, graphic arts, automotive, telecommunications and high performance industrial coatings.

"This agreement will enable us to combine the Datalase chemistry with our specialised ink manufacturing technology and global infrastructure to offer a total marking service to our wide range of clients," commented Jim Wittig, vice president of Rad-Cure.

And Trevor Wilson, Sherwood's commercial director added: "With Rad-Cure's commitment to customer satisfaction and success, plus its expertise in the inks market, the company is ideally placed to bring Datalase to a wider market." Datalase combines chemistry, substrate conversion and laser energy, using very low power laser light for the high speed printing of images.

It is a non-contact alternative to traditional printing methods, providing virtual labelling, anti-counterfeiting and graphics, for instance.

It is claimed to be flexible and suitable for metal decoration, flexible packaging, paper, board and plastics.
