Sherwood-Sessions Deal For Indicator Labels Growth
Sherwood Technology, the UK colour change specialist, has entered an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Sessions of York.
Sherwood Technology, the UK colour change specialist, has entered an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Sessions of York.
The collaboration enables Sessions to combine its labelling activities with Sherwood's colour change and manufacturing knowledge to produce the Gamma Sterilisation Indicator labels over a 10-year period.
The labels are claimed to provide an immediate visible record of all products and equipment that have undergone a volume sterilisation process.
Sessions of York will continue to apply its registered brand name of 'Detex' to the Gamma Sterilisation Indicator labels.
Sherwood's self-adhesive indicator labels undergo a chemical colour-change when exposed to gamma radiation.
The labels change from yellow to red when activated.
There is a bold colour-change from 5kGy up to 100kGy, which provides a 'yes' and 'no' indication of gamma exposure for a range of applications, including food irradiation and medical and surgical products sterilisation.
The labels form part of Sherwood's range of colour change products, from virtual labelling to low cost printing technology on products, packaging and even on food, said the company.
Sessions of York provides customised labels to customers in most market sectors and in many parts of the world.
The company said that it keeps abreast of the latest design, production and quality assurance technologies to be able to react quickly to changing customer requirements.
"This agreement will enable us to combine the indicator labels with our customised labels to offer a complete range of self-adhesive labels to a wide range of clients," commented David Embleton, sales and marketing director at Sessions of York.
Trevor Wilson, Sherwood's commercial director, said: "With Sessions of York's commitment to customer satisfaction and success, the company is ideally placed to bring our indicator labels to a wider market.
This new arrangement will enable us to concentrate on our core business of developing colour change products for print, packaging and on-product marking applications.".
