Datalase uses a combination of colour change chemistry and low power laser light for a range of applications.

The company said that the move results from the success of the brand and also coincides with the opening of a new US facility that is due in the first quarter of this year.

The company's name change is also said to be a precursor to the launch of a new product portfolio later this year.

The new product suite will include Datalase Casemark, which the company claimed will be a cost effective label replacement system for secondary packaging, Datalase Foodmark for on-product marking of foodstuffs and Datalase Pharmamark for on-tablet marking applications.

The company's existing coding and marking product - a clean, indelible imaging technique for applying variable information to an array of materials at full production line speeds that also enhances the use of laser marking and imaging - will be branded as Datalase Packmark.

Datalase will also be rebranding its existing portfolio of security applications.

The Digivu range of products will now be known as Datalase Guardmark, and it will provide covert and overt image applications for document and brand protection.

Steve Kelly, the company's managing director, said: "We are excited to announce the evolution of focus for Datalase from a technology company to a complete solutions provider.

This year will be an exciting year for our company with the launch of our new ground-breaking products and the opening of our US facility.".
