North East UK print firm Statex Colourprint has achieved the Investors in People (IIP) Standard Investors In People is a widely recognised standard, which helps the development of businesses through setting professional levels of good practice to improve an organisation's performance

Statex Colourprint, which has just marked its 10th anniversary, has won the Print Company of the year award twice.

Commenting on the IIP achievement, Sue Charlton, director of finance and human resources at Statex said: "We thought that the time was right to apply for IIP.

We wanted to give our employees the opportunity to achieve their own personal potential and we have made this possible by offering specific training and development plans.

Our training philosophy is based on investing in people at all levels of the business.

The results of this continuing process have been very encouraging, as not only are individual employees learning and developing, but the company's performance as a whole has improved." Ruth Spellman, chief executive of Investors In People UK commented: "Putting people development at the heart of every function is the most cost-effective decision a business can ever make.

Employees are central to business success so it is vital for staff to be skilled, flexible and motivated.

The IIP framework ensures that if you look after your inputs the outputs will look after themselves.".
