The learning, training and skills award recognises, encourages and rewards organisations that make a significant contribution to the continuous training and education of their employees, said Statexcolourprint.
Graham Minett, managing director at Statexcolourprint, said: "This award demonstrates our commitment to developing our staff and providing them with learning and training opportunities, which will enable them to progress further.
We currently have seven apprentices as well as a number of staff who are learning a range of diverse skills.
We also encourage continuous professional development with all our employees and believe that it is vitally important to invest in their future." Minett continued: "To stay ahead of the competition, it's crucial that we invest in new technology and that we have fully trained staff that can maximise the performance of this equipment.
However, there is a general skills shortage within the print industry, which makes it difficult to recruit experienced staff.
This is why at Statex we invest in the training and development of our existing workforce and in doing so we are securing their future and that of the print industry." Statex, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, was set up in 1994 and has quickly established itself as a provider of print services.
Over the past three years it has invested GBP3million in the business.
