After the integration of the US packaging ink manufacturer Color Converting in the Siegwerk Group, the company said it is offering its customers in North America, Europe and Asia good quality identical products and services.

With central production sites in Europe (Siegwerk Druckfarben AG), USA (CCI) and Asia (Siegwerk Ink Thailand), the company said it offers its customers an internationally standardised ink and service quality.

For that purpose, production in Asia has completely changed over to toluol-free ink.

"Now Color Converting offers its business partners not only the proven CCI products but also the internationally leading Siegwerk ink series.

That has enabled us to considerably extend our range particularly in the gravure packaging ink sector," said Dr Lothar Schaffeler, director of application technology at Color Converting and previously director of research and development at Siegwerk Druckfarben AG.

The purchase of CCI has brought substantial advantages to North American customers of the Siegwerk Group, it believes and American Siegwerk customers are now supplied with products and services directly on site.

Customers in Europe receive the business group's products from Siegwerk Druckfarben AG in Siegburg (Germany).

Technical support is provided to European business partners on site by the different local companies of the group, for instance in Poland, Great Britain or Portugal.

Customers in Asia receive ordering, service and ink selection support from the Thailand production site.

The company believes that the merger has enabled a globally standardised and coordinated optimisation of the ink formulas.

Products from the USA such as the flexographic printing ink series, Sealtech, were added to the Siegwerk Druckfarben AG product range.

Products employed at European customers such as the ink series PV-77 were launched on the American market by CCI.

"Asian factories of internationally operating packaging groups are very interested in a globally standardised ink quality.

Through close cooperation within the group and concentration on three central production sites, our company offers a unique range of products and services in this regard," said Herbert Forker, the president and chief executive officer of the Siegwerk Group.

The cooperation of the company's innovation centres in Des Moines (Iowa, USA), Siegburg and Bangkok was a great advantage also for the development of new ink series said Dr Klaus Heger, the director of research, development and application technology of Siegwerk Druckfarben AG.

"Strategies for new developments are pushed forward and implemented jointly with the market knowledge of three large world markets," he added.
