Developing Partnerships To Meet Catalogues' Needs
'One stop shop' is the buzzword in the catalogue publishing industry and with the potential to service pre-press, printing and online needs, suppliers are being forced to ensure long term support.
Most of Sigma's European product catalogues are now published at Stibo's European facility in Horsens, Denmark, rather than in the United States.
Sigma-Aldrich publishes 37 versions of each of its four major product catalogues.

UK Travel Brochure Contract Goes To Stibo Graphic
With over 70 brochure titles ranging from 16 pages to 500-plus, the Vacation Rental Group (VRG), knew that when looking for a printing supplier it needed an experienced company.
This enables the company to provide relevant information to chemists located around the world.
Sigma-Aldrich took the decision to print all European variations locally (seven European variations, as well as Sterling and Swiss Franc editions) with Stibo to increase speed to market, reduce distributor costs and improve process efficiency.
Tom Beckermann, senior print buyer at Sigma, based at Sigma-Aldrich's world headquarters in St.
Louis, Missouri (USA) explained: "We've said for years that it would be beneficial to publish our European catalogues closer to their delivery destination.
After a trip to verify Stibo Graphic's capabilities, we agreed to partner with them and we have built a strong relationship over the last 12 months.
Our focus has always been on partnering with companies with similar vision and approach to our own.
The process efficiencies, product quality and increased marketing time Stibo Graphic has been able to deliver fully justify our decision." He said the ability to deliver the 2004 product catalogue simultaneously to the company's customers regardless of geography would significantly increase its competitive advantage.
Hans Damgaard, Stibo Graphic managing director explained: "The capability to print product catalogues locally delivers considerable commercial benefits for our customers - from reducing shipping costs to an extended marketing time for each edition.
We have the production technology and services to enable volume catalogue producers to reduce print lead-times and speed up delivery - a powerful combination which has been an integral part of our successful partnership with Sigma-Aldrich.".
