Polkadots Software the pre-press workflow developer, has released Prepage-it version 5, the database driven, PDF and 1-bit TIFF workflow, at a price everyone can afford, it is claimed.

Prepage-it version 5.0 has been designed with goal of making pre-press and production workflows simpler.

Building on nine years of workflow development, Prepage-it 5 has a simple user interface that makes the creation of workflow settings easy and a database driven client to automate and simplify tasks for users, claimed the UK's Siliconcrag, which is distributing the product.

With add on modules and extras, Prepage-it 5 is a modular, completely scalable workflow that now has optimised Harlequin RIP integration - whether Prepage-it is installed with a Polkadots Rasterize-it RIP, or with any third party Harlequin OEM RIP.

It is claimed that Prepage-it 5 is up to 200 per cent faster than previous versions and the new user interface allows users to simply name the workflow, select some basic parameters and let the database driven workflow automate the process.

There is a new JDF Option to edit and modify imposition parameters and even to assign RIP parameters on a job-by-job basis.

Prepage-it is plug and play that allows users to print from any popular Macintosh or Windows applications and RIP pages as early as possible, saving time and detecting potential problems at the beginning of the production process where corrections and changes cost less.

Prepage-it 5, as well as other JDF based products, will be demonstrated live at Print 05 in Chicago from September 9-15 on stand 6139.

Paul Collins, product manager for RIP technologies at Global Graphics Software, said: "As acceptance of JDF as a control format grows, it's always good to see our OEMs use the technology we supply in an innovative way - and one of the solutions I particularly admire is in the way Polkadots has hooked in to the JDF control concept in Prepage-it.

By combining the use of the underlying JDF with a user interface to enable the edit of run lists and RIPping parameters, the company has effectively created a mechanism for late-breaking editorial, content and control changes.

It is elegant and impressive stuff and adds a whole extra level of flexibility to their workflow.".
