With the aim of maintaining its quality proofing standards, Colour Five in Wembley, London (UK) has invested in a Techno.lab RIP system and Epson B1 printer.

Colour Five, a UV printer and the UK's largest postcard printer has upgraded its digital proofing system with an Epson 9800 and Techno.lab RIP based inkjet.

Andrew Stallard, the studio manager at Colour Five, said: "We knew that the Epson 9800 was the right choice for the printer, but the RIP was the crucial element to achieve contract quality consistent proofs from our workflow.

We evaluated all the leading RIP vendors but decided on the Techno.lab system on quality and functionality." He added: "What ultimately sold it to us is the colour accuracy and it is supplied with all the tools for calibration, profiling, proof checking and spectrophotometer as standard." Neil Bather, the sales director of Siliconcrag, the UK and Ireland distributor of Techno.lab, said: "What makes the Techno.lab proofing system stand out from the crowd, is that the client gets everything needed in one box.

Technolab is not just a high end software RIP, but it also includes 16bit profile generation software, proof certification and the spectrophotometer.
