Label Company Opens First Asian Factory
Self-adhesive label supplier Skanem's first factory in Asia has been opened following a contract win with a customer in the region.
Skanem has been working closely with the customer, as well as partners in and around Bangkok, throughout the development process The factory construction started in May 2006 and was completed January and, according to the company it is the first proof of its strategy to be present in the world's emerging markets

European label printing group Skanem has claimed that it is set to 'throw the book' at the Seventh Amendment!
Production will start next week.
The 4,200 square metre factory on a 13,000 square metre land is at Amata Nakorn, 55km south of Bangkok and 30 minutes travelling time from the Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Skanem Bangkok has so far got 25 employees but as production starts at the site, the organisation will grow.
Delivery of the first batch of labels is scheduled to begin in July.
The Skanem group said it is also looking in to other opportunities in Asia, as well as eastern Europe.
Skanem president and chief executive officer, Ole Rugland, says: "I am extremely pleased with the project so far and I feel confident that Skanem will now gain invaluable experience to realise the scope of opportunities in Asia." Managing director at the site, Alf Moller, commented: "Our Bangkok team feel proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short period of time and we are all very excited about starting production next week." Skanem is one of the largest suppliers of self-adhesive labels in Europe.
Production takes place in 12 factories with around 1100 employees in 8 countries.
The company serves all segments in need of self-adhesive labels and aims to be the preferred supplier of labels to multinational and large national customers.
