Skanem Hobro, after installing a new CTP system, has experienced higher levels of more consistent quality with the digital artwork processing system.

Dan Panduro, production manager at Skanem Hobro, said: 'Digital plates give us the opportunity to achieve higher quality than with the old analogue plates, which is one of the reasons behind the elimination of film in the process.

'The new imaging system also helps optimise our workflow to reduce origination lead time and increase the efficiency of our studio facilities.' Ebba Jakobsen, prepress manager at Skanem Hobro, added: 'The prepress department is pleased with the new CTP system on site even if we had a few minor problems at start-up with setting up the technical specifications.

'We ran new profiles on our two offset combination machines to maximise the high quality through the CTP system.' According to managing director, Bent Hubertz, the CTP system gives the site more flexibility on customer projects.

He explained: 'We can update or amend artwork more easily since the file can be sent directly to our CTP machine and a new plate can be ready within five or 10 minutes.

'This means we have achieved a more stable quality in our combination printing processes, which is positive for us and also for our customers.'.
