Sensor Products is staging a web handling and converting seminar at the Hilton Head Island (USA) from July 14-15.

Sensor Products is staging a web handling and converting seminar at the Hilton Head Island (USA) from July 14-15.

The company said the seminar would teach the essentials of web handling including tension control, nips, roller design, spreading and wrinkling.

It would also cover important converting related topics such as slitting and winding, as well as the physics of how web machinery operates.

Though theory is included, emphasis is placed on practical problem solving techniques for the plant engineer.

Sensor Products said that 1,600 delegates have attended previous seminars.

The instructor leading the seminar is Dr David Roisum, founder and president of Finishing Technologies He has written three books and over 100 papers and articles on web technology.

At Beloit Corporation he was a machine designer and then research manager for winders.

At the Web Handling Research Centre he served as an advisor and helped set up its pilot lab.

At Kimberly-Clark he served as an internal converting consultant to all business units and as an independent consultant he has helped troubleshoot a variety of problems in the paper, film and foil sectors, amongst others, said Sensor Products.
