Web Handling and Converting, to be staged by Sensor Products, is a seminar that is said to offer the chance for delegates to learn web handling techniques.

The seminar will also present key areas that will include web tension control, nips, roller design, and spreading and wrinkling.

In addition to converting related topics, such as slitting and winding, the seminar will also cover the physics of how web machinery operates.

The two-day event will be held on August 15 and 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA).

Sensor Products commented that although theory is included, emphasis will be placed on practical problem solving techniques for the plant engineer.

The company added that the course has been attended by more than 1,600 students since it was first presented and anyone working with web machinery can benefit from it.

The company said that the physics of web handling are applicable to any of the web industries including paper and printing.

Featured topics will include how to get a web through a machine at the highest throughput and with minimal trouble, as well as providing the opportunity to find out how wrinkles are formed and how they can be prevented.

Delegates will also discover how and why tension must be controlled throughout the machine, whilst being shown how and why machines need to be aligned.

Sensor Products added that the session will also present details of why rollers must be true and how web breaks and damage can be avoided, whilst also learning about options for slitting, edge guiding, calendering, winding and other converting processes.
