RIP Software's New Levels Of Accuracy
Software Imaging is now shipping the latest release of its XPS raster image processor (RIP), PrintmagicXPS, worldwide.
PrintmagicXPS is claimed to provide a level of accuracy and fidelity not supported by other systems and is made available in a software development kit (SDK) that is said to enable XPSDrv print driver creation for Windows Vista.
The new release, PrintmagicXPS 1.1, further enhances both quality and performance when printing XPS documents and does so with minimal resources, claimed Software Imaging.
That makes it suitable for XPS workflow applications and printing applications, such as Microsoft Vista premium-signed XPSDrv drivers and stand-alone host-based XPS RIP systems.
New features in version 1.1 include optimisations to provide greater performance, a further reduction in system memory requirements, enhanced anti-aliasing and the ability to accurately render a wider range of XPS documents than alternative systems, said Software Imaging.
The new optimisations built in to PrintmagicXPS 1.1 are designed to provide further improvements in system performance, even when rendering particularly large and complex XPS documents.
For example, PrintmagicXPS is said to allow documents that are generated by the Microsoft Document Writer to be printed, even in cases where those documents are too large or complex for the Microsoft Vista viewer to display or print.
Quality and performance are further enhanced through anti-aliasing algorithms, whilst the reduced memory requirements provide greater system performance, added the company.
Software Imaging added that PrintmagicXPS users have no need to compromise speed for quality.
Jon Williams, group product manager for Software Imaging, said: "PrintmagicXPS has already proven itself to be a world-beating, high performance RIP and I believe that it will remain the fastest RIP on the market for the foreseeable future.
This new release allows our OEM customers to truly set the standard for quality and performance in their Vista-based products, be they premium-signed printer drivers, host-based RIPs, or print workflow applications." PrintmagicXPS supports Microsoft's XPS 1.0 specification, colour matching on Windows Vista, is claimed to allow for wide gamut colour spaces, including scRGB HDR and wide gamut output colour spaces, as well as third-party colour matching modules (CMMs).
