contract

Southernprint awarded contract to print Chelsea Football Club's monthly magazine using paper sourced from forests which meet strict Forest Stewardship Council criteria.

The Premiership club is believed to be the first in its league to go down the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) route using only paper from well managed forests The print contract is also one of the first major deals to be landed by Poole-based Southernprint since it received Chain of Custody certification from the FSC in the summer

The 80pp perfect-bound Chelsea magazine is mailed direct to fans of the Premier League club and available on the newsstand.

Published by ProgrammeMaster, the magazine is printed on 100gsm Royal Web FSC with the 4pp cover on 225gsm Woodfree Gloss FSC with a u/v varnish.

Liam Curry, ProgrammeMaster's Production Director, said Southernprint had been selected for its environmental credentials and its standing in the marketplace.

"We believe Chelsea is the first Premiership club to go down the FSC route".

"It's a great compliment to Southernprint that it has been the printer chosen for this contract," he said.

David Newby, Chelsea FC's Marketing Manager, said the club was committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible.

"Southernprint offered us the most attractive solution and we are delighted to put the business their way," he said.

Chain of Custody certification means that Southernprint can guarantee that FSC certified paper used on its presses has come from a forest which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
