New Substrates Meet Inkjet Print's Extended Range
Because inkjet printers can now print on an increasing range of materials for more varied applications, Seal Graphics has extended its consumables range with 20 more inkjet substrates.
The company's founder and owner, Radim Kralik, said: "We saw and instantly appreciated the simplicity of operation that this efficient yet high output finishing system offers and we are proud to be the first company across Europe to offer the levels of protection that a liquid coater provides.
In addition to producing finished output, we have also designed and developed a range of UV printers, which we sell under the Octopus brand, so you can see that we are fully conversant with the technology." The AS72UV is seen as a suitable companion to current generation flatbed printers, said Seal.
Its flatbed construction will coat prints and rigid substrates up to 1.76m wide and 12.7mm in thickness at speeds of up to 27 metres per minute, claimed the company.
Roll-to-roll finishing is an optional extra that Grapo has taken up.
The AS72UV uses a liquid formulation that is instantly cured when it passes under the inbuilt ultra violet lamp, added Seal.
As such, it offers immediate protection to a variety of materials, including output from inkjet, electrostatic, photographic and dye-sublimation printers.
The liquid is said to have been formulated to meet the extreme demands on outdoor displays and vehicle graphics and is impervious to water, petrol, grease, alcohol, salt spray and detergents.
It is also claimed to exhibit low shrinkage, low edge curl and is non-yellowing.
It is also UV, scratch, scrub and abrasion-resistant and comes in gloss, lustre and matt finishes.
The gloss laminate, in particular, shows good anti-graffiti properties, added Seal.
The company believes that the AS72UV will be of particular benefit on inkjet-produced images because the liquid laminate will not react with the inks, so that offsetting is eliminated.
Signmakers printing on to foamex will find that a first coat of liquid laminate will provide a smooth surface on to which inks will adhere better than the original material.
