Rotary Screen Printing Systems At Labelexpo

A Stork Prints product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 18, 2006

The range of new products from Stork Prints that will be on display at Labelexpo Americas will demonstrate the company's rotary screen printing equipment and application support.

The range of new products from Stork Prints that will be on display at Labelexpo Americas will demonstrate the company's rotary screen printing equipment and application support.

The company said that it will show its systems for direct laser engraving, rotary screen printing, flexo printing consumable products and ink dispensing systems.

The laser engraving Helios 6010 system for flexo, rotary screen and letterpress printing formes and narrow-web uses will be demonstrated.

It is said to be drawing interest, with sales in Europe and Japan.

Small and middle sized companies are claimed to gain control over their printing processes and flexibility in the execution of printing jobs.

The system will also be shown on the stands of Mark Andy and Codimag.

Stork will be showcasing a range of products from AKL Flexo Technik, suppliers of conventional sleeves for plate mounting, photopolymer printing formes and, launched most recently, the patented Optidlex thin sleeve and adapter technology.

Stork formed a strategic partnership with AKL Flexo to offer a programme of sleeves and ITR (in the round) printing formes that are claimed to be compatible with any printing plate so that users are not limited to the choice of a particular supplier of photopolymer material.

The company said its rotary screen printing systems are bringing a lower cost of ownership and easier access to the high value printing process.

Stork offers modular printing units and complete printing lines to suit all budgets and printing applications, it said.

The RSI modules are also designed to be integrated on to existing presses, so keeping the investment requirements low.

Modules are available in widths from 10" (254mm) to 40" (1,000mm).

They are also claimed to have wide repeat size ranges and can be used with almost all web-fed substrates.

RSI Compact units, with restricted repeat sizes ranging from 12" to 18", are designed for the label and narrow-web printer's needs.

Stork also supplies a number of press-manufacturing partners with its RSI Easyfit bespoke cassette format modules for insertion in to the mainframe of the press.

They are designed for presses that allow interchangeability between different processes at each station.

Customers will be able to find out about Stork's pure nickel, electroformed Rotamesh screens, which are said to offer long life and long-term reduced consumable costs, capable of being re-imaged up to 15 times.

Rotaplate cylinders that will also be on display are said to provide a reduced cost solution for non-Stork systems.

Rotary screen is used for numerous high-value decorative and identification applications and it is becoming increasingly important for RFID and security printing.

The process can also be used effectively in three key RFID antenna-production processes - plating, etching and direct printing, said Stork.

Stork Prints designs complete lines featuring bespoke hot air drying systems for printing both high frequency and ultra-high frequency RFID label antennae.

A range of RSI units, ranging from 12" to 24" web-width, are available, as well as a dedicated programme of explosion proof hot air driers for solvent-based inks used for direct printing of RFID antennas.

The company added that with ink prices rising sharply, colour management is essential for a profitable packaging print.

A new desktop ink dispensing system will be launched at the show.

The new gravimetric ink dispenser, the Coloursat Match, is said to be suitable for users of lower ink quantities - especially label printers.

It is said to give packaging printers a low-maintenance ink logistics system that is quick to install, simple to operate and flexible to configure.

Wilfried Koopman, director of graphics at Stork Prints, said: "The Stork Prints group's activities are diverse but the common ground that binds us is an unrelenting commitment to reducing the cost of ownership, whilst helping our customers maintain margins in a competitive market - irrespective of budgets.

We are sure our innovations will be a source of inspiration to many a visitor at this year's show.".
