At this year's Ipex show Sealed Air, will be exhibiting what it believes to be the most flexible and efficient shrink wrapping machine to enter the European market - the Shanklin Omni.

Also taking a prominent position on Sealed Air's shrink packaging stand - 02-D46 - will be the newly developed Opti 2100A semi-automatic shrink wrapper, a modular Pfankuch ASB 450K friction feeder and a range of packaging materials and equipment targeting the print sector.

The two-model Omni series, comprising the Omni G and Omni S, is a new range of packaging machines that is the result of three years' development work.

Each model is offered with a range of plug-and-play in-feed modules that can be changed in a matter of a few minutes to accommodate different products, said Sealed Air.

The level of flexibility offered makes the Omni range suitable for a range of applications including printers where quick product change-overs are required, said the company.

The Omni G is a traditional drive-based machine for a range of applications and it is claimed to operate at up to 80 cycles per minute.

The Omni S is a servo-driven end-sealer for higher packaging speeds and operates at claimed speeds of up to 100 cycles per minute.

The Opti 2100A semi-automatic shrink wrapper will also be exhibited at Ipex 2006.

The Opti 2100A operates up to 10 packs per minute and can handle a range of applications, including stationery, added the company.

The machine comes complete with six preset control settings for temperature and has an adjustable impulse blade sealer.

Its dual working station allows seal-only or seal and shrink applications.

Also on display is the Pfankuch ASB 450K, which Sealed Air claimed is the most flexible friction feeder available in the world.

It has a modular design that is said to allow users to configure a series of feeders to meet their changing requirements.

The Pfankuch ASB 450K is suitable for separating, counting and feeding flat products made of paper and cardboard, or combined material, such as greeting cards and envelopes, as well as package inserts and sachets, for instance, up to 8mm in thickness.

Other equipment from the company's shrink packaging division will also be on display including Mondo and Scaglione palletising systems and packaging films from the Cryovac range - Adapt and Xenith.
