Tech-ni-Fold has announced that it will soon have sold its first batch of machines as a result of launching its Creasestream creasing and perforating machines at Ipex 2010.

The Creasestream Junior is a basic hand-fed table-top machine designed for digital and litho printing companies that produce low-volume print runs.

However, because the machine can hand-feed up to 4,000 sheets per hour it is also of interest to those that produce longer runs of 5,000 and above.

Graham Harris, managing director of Tech-ni-Fold, said: 'People were surprised and even amazed at how a rotary action device could produce such a quality selection of creases on a variety of digital materials.

'Added to this, many were won over when they witnessed the versatility of what else the machine had to offer that others could not, such as the special attachment that produces fine, flat and almost invisible micro-perforating to a standard that finished sheets could easily run through laser printers without any problems.

'We have also worked hard to produce an optional slitting mechanism that produces guillotine-quality cutting,' he added.

In September, Tech-ni-Fold will release the automatic version - the Creasestreamplus, a prototype of which was on display at Ipex.

The multi-print finishing unit reached production output of almost 20,000 A4 sheets per hour.

Tech-ni-Fold has sold more than 55,000 Tri-Creasers for use on folding machines and print-finishing equipment and has supplied Heidelberg for the past nine years.

The patented creasing device is said to be the only rotary system that can produce the letterpress style of creasing that eliminates digital cracking.

The Tri-Creaser incorporates a specially formulated and softer circular creasing rib that easily inserts into a male collar on a rotating shaft, once this engages with one of a series of channels on the female drum, which is fixed to the other shaft, it produces very good results.

The softer creasing application gently stretches and manipulates the fibres of the stock to produce much deeper crease penetration so that cracking is avoided.

A new version of the latest Tri-Creaser Fast Fit has been adapted for exclusive use on the Creasestream range of machines.

The device has a minimum of six settings to choose from and is colour-coded for ease of use and quick change-over of crease styles.

A softer and more durable creasing formula has been integrated to deal with the full range of stocks that printers have to cope with.
