Tenza Technologies has appointed Tim Palmer as its new managing director, replacing Andrew Kirk who has left the company to pursue another opportunity.

Tim Palmer has spent his professional life running international businesses with a particular emphasis on manufacturing.

Palmer is described by Tenza as a keen advocate of UK manufacturing and is excited at the prospect of running a home grown company such as Tenza Technologies.

Palmer commented: "Tenza is something very precious - it is one of the few remaining UK manufacturing companies making great products and employing great people.

We are one of the largest employers in our part of Suffolk and I feel that by ensuring Tenza's continued prosperity I may be able to play a part in bucking the trend of UK manufacturers moving their production to the Far East." And he continued: "It may be fashionable and there may be some headline cost savings involved, but with good people and best-of-breed products that we have here at Tenza we can guarantee a level of quality and service that other remote production sites can never hope to achieve." Palmer's career has seen him working in different cities throughout Europe for the past 20 years, in almost every manufacturing industry, including automotive parts, heating and refrigeration, food, shoes and chemicals.

He has been involved in consultancy work for Transport for London.

Palmer added: "One of the few advantages of having grey hair is that there is very little that you haven't seen before.

It may be a different industry, but the same lessons come round time and time again, so one tends to be ready and waiting for them.

Compared to other industries I have known, the laminate and labels sector is quite complex with some inherent difficulties, but once you begin to break the problem areas down in to simple, manageable chunks, solutions tend to present themselves without too many problems." He said that he intends to focus on ensuring that Tenza continues to produce and deliver its Tenzalopes, protective and decorative covering film and bespoke laminate ranges to its customers all over the world within the time frames that they require.

He is also planning a stream of new products to ensure the company's continued growth and success.
