POP Company Moves In To Small Format Digital Print
The Delta Group has expanded in to small format production with the installation of an HP Indigo 5000 offset digital press.
The Delta Group, a specialist in the design and printing Point-of-Purchase (POP) and large format printed materials, has expanded in to small format production with the installation of an HP Indigo 5000 offset digital press.
The seven colour HP Indigo 5000 is said to be the only small format digital press to utilise a wet ink offset printing process, resulting in a print quality that closely matches litho, said Delta Group.
By investing in HP Indigo's ink mixing system, Delta said it is also able to mix spot colour inks to exactly match customers' specific corporate colours.
Suitable for printing small format items, such as price tags, shelf tickets and promotional shelf barkers, the Indigo press prints items up to A3 size and 300gsm in weight.
The new digital press prints 'store-specific' sets of items, in store walk-through order, minimising waste and saving time displaying tickets in-store, added the company.
Mike Bowman, business development director at Delta Group, commented: "Because the Indigo is a digital press, it can print items in a specific sequence, completely eliminating the need to manually collate items in to sets.
This minimises errors, saves time and reduces waste, allowing us to pass on significant cost savings to our customers.
Bundles of tickets and POS material can now be delivered to stores in a convenient 'walk-through' sequence, which follows how the store is laid out." And he added: "Business at The Delta Group has continued to grow and we are receiving more requests for small format work from retailers as a natural extension to our large format POP work.
We took the decision to purchase the Indigo press capacity to meet this demand from our customers.
In addition, the Indigo also allows us to offer personalised marketing communications, which previously the company would have outsourced." The installation of the Indigo press follows investments in a new Roland 905-8-LV XXL press, an HP Scitex CORjet flatbed inkjet press and a Thieme 5070 two-colour press, which have icreased capacity in response to an increase in business, added Delta Group.
Delta employs 300 permanent staff.
Its client portfolio includes film, video and computer games companies, as well as multiple high street retailers and supermarket chains.
