The James McNaughton Group is celebrating winning its second major environmental award of the year: the 'Extra Mile Award' for environmental innovation in the workplace, at the Mayor of London's Green Procurement Code Awards The award, presented by Nicky Gavron, the Deputy Mayor of London recognises outstanding achievement in creating a sustainable workplace, over and above the amount spent on recycled products

Daniel Silverstone the CEO of London Remade, announced the award, saying "Congratulations to the James McNaughton Group, who were selected by our external judging panel for going the extra mile".

"Their commitment to green procurement is evident from top-level management".

Silverstone added "Their extensive work with suppliers has helped to green the supply chain through mandatory completion of a suppliers environmental questionnaire".

"On the customer side, their carbon calculator lets customers compare the benefits of recycled to non-recycled paper".

"The James McNaughton Group are making the right steps to reducing their environmental impact through responsible purchasing".

The Extra Mile Award judging panel consisted of Nicole Fletcher, sustainable procurement manager at the London Borough of Camden; Matthew James, sustainability and research manager at Workspace Group and Donnachadh McCarthy, author and environmentalist.

Howard Browning, McNaughton Director for Corporate Responsibility said, "We have been reporting annually on our recycled product purchases for a number of years, in support of the Mayor's Green Procurement code".

Browning added, "We are absolutely delighted that our extra environmental efforts have also been recognised".

The Award marks another highpoint in a year that has seen McNaughton, receiving the 'Environmental Supplier of the Year' at the Quality in Print Media Awards, signing up to the Prince of Wales Mayday pledge and hosting a climate change forum for suppliers and customers, where the renowned climate change expert, Sir Crispin Tickell, presented.

The root of McNaughton's success can be traced back to its Sustainable Solutions programme, which combines a number of internal initiatives to reduce the company's environmental impact, with an active external programme of seminars, forums and initiatives designed to raise customer awareness of Chain of Custody, sustainable procurement and recycling.

These and many more of Group activities and initiatives are captured, along with details of the environmental product offer and a glossary of terms, within the Group's Sustainable Solutions brochure, which can be viewed on our website.
