Print Education Books Have Refreshing New Design
When the organiser of the second phase of the PrintIT! initiative was looking for a new design for the teachers course book and students work book, GVMC was quick to create the ideal scenario.
In a joint presentation and factory visit on March 20, MAS and Pelican will explain the principles of lean manufacturing and show how they have applied best practice to drive out waste and drive up productivity at Pelican Press.
Ian Crow, Pelican's chief executive, said: "The work with MAS has made us far more efficient, so we are turning work around quicker than ever and we have more control over the quality processes." MAS practitioner Graham Canning, who has supported Pelican Press through its business improvement project, said: "Lean will typically help businesses become much fitter and boost productivity by around 20 per cent.
By making some straight forward changes to factory layout and identifying areas of waste in its processes, Pelican has made significant cost reductions.
The event is aimed at pointing the way forward for other printers.".
