In the company's opinion, print data is something of a grey area in IT security, whilst at the same time, it contains information in clear text.

Therefore, unencrypted print data is often a gap in any security concept.

Thinprint has introduced a new version of its software that is claimed to close that gap.

Thinprint said that it was not content with just including 128-bit SSL encryption in.print Engine 6.2, though.

Just as important as encryption of print data transmissions is the assurance that print data is only sent to trusted recipients.

That is guaranteed by the implementation of certificate management.

If that option is enabled, the print server requests an appropriate certificate from the client and authenticates the certificate before sending the print data, claimed Thinprint.

The Thinprint product range is said to offer the new version for Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe and for classic WAN environments, web applications and mobile platforms.

"Thinprint.print Engine 6.2 now makes it possible to prevent sensitive corporate information from landing in the wrong hands.

By adding wide range of improvements to this version, like stringent, dynamic printer properties mapping, we have even further increased our superiority over other products," explained Carsten Mickeleit, the managing director of Thinprint.
