The new version 6.2 of Thinprint's management software, the.print Engine is claimed to set new standards for security in printing.
80% Less Data Traffic With New Print Server
The new Thinprint Remote Desktop Suite will create 80 per cent less data traffic and four to five times faster printouts than the next best print server it is claimed by Thinprint.
The program's 'best practice wizard' is claimed to be easy-to-use and allows businesses to turn a Windows Server 2003 in to a secure Remote Desktop environment including print management and certificate based SSL encryption in only five to 10 minutes.
A new e-channel concept ensures availability on the websites of Thinprint sales partners, added the company.
The best practice wizard enables terminal services and sets up the .print print management.
Key to the product is the automatic creation of the security settings, including set up of the firewall and SSl certificates.
Once server installation is complete, an individual installation package (.msi) is automatically created from the system, said Thinprint.
The preconfigured file can be distributed to all workstations for which secure remote access is to be made possible.
Thanks to the Thinprint drive-free printing technology, the user can print immediately to any printer.
Carsten Mickeleit, managing director of Thinprint, said: "With this system, it is possible for every small or middle-sized business to have a low-cost, secure server-based computing architecture, with which employees in the local network have the same high performance access to central applications as the employees working from home." The retail price of the Remote Desktop Suite Standard for five users or devices without an update service will be Euro990, whilst extension packs for five users or devices each will cost Euro450.
Already scheduled for release this month, the software will be available on-line from Thinprint e-channel partners.
