Thanet Press has secured a GBP170,000 contract with Devon County Council in the UK to print bus timetables.

Thanet Press has secured a GBP170,000 contract with Devon County Council in the UK to print bus timetables.

The three-year deal means that the Kent-based printer will be responsible for producing six different timetables twice a year for the West Country local authority.

David Hurley, managing director at Thanet Press, said the company beat off strong competition for the contract.

He commented: "We're delighted to be working with Devon County Council in what we're sure will be the start of a beneficial partnership." News of the success in Devon follows a surge of new business for Thanet Press.

So far this year, the Margate company has been awarded print contracts for Euromoney, Merseyside Travel, the Audit Commission and additional work for one of its biggest existing clients, international pharmaceutical company Procter and Gamble.

David Hurley added: "Printing timetables for public transport operators is very specialised work and our ability to undertake this sort of job at a competitive price and to a very high quality standard has led to the contract wins with both Devon County Council and Merseyside Travel." And he continued: "Conditions in the UK printing industry continue to be very challenging.

More than ever before, clients in the private and public sector are demanding competitive prices, flexibility and reliability.

Our recent success in securing so many key contracts means Thanet Press is going from strength to strength in 2006.".
