To commemorate the 450th anniversary of the granting of its Royal Charter, The Worshipful Company of Stationers' and Newspaper Makers' is holding a special industry event on May 24 2007.

The 2020 Vision Conference has been designed to make a contribution to the business needs of executives, decision makers and investors in the printing, packaging, publishing, packaging, media and office products sectors, said the Stationers Company.

Because of the connection of the company within its constituent industries, it has been able to assemble an international panel of speakers from within and outside of those industries.

Over 40 speakers, including those from Google, Microsoft and the Oxford Internet Institute, will look at technological and economic developments in these industries and present a view of the state of affairs in the year 2020 in the plenary and break-out sessions.

The printing section includes speakers from Vision in Print, Sun Chemical, The Alden Group and a panel discussion with the leading press manufacturers.

The subjects include trends and transformation print technologies for 21st Century, manufacturing, which processes will dominate, the skills required to manage a printing company in 2020 and the establishment and running a print factory in Malaysia.

There are two keynote speakers.

William Emmott, author of 20:20 Vision and former editor of The Economist, will talk about his vision of the global economy in 2020.

Sir Howard Davies, director of the London School of Econmics, will present a paper on the rise of India and China as economic super powers.

The plenary and keynote speaker sessions will be attended by all delegates.

After lunch there will be separate sessions devoted to printing, publishing, paper-making and packaging, stationery and office products.

The Stationers' Hall in London (UK) will be the venue for the keynote and plenary sessions.

In the afternoon, the break-out sessions will be at Stationers' Hall and the nearby Apothecaries' Hall.
