The Stationery Office (TSO) has signed a three-year agreement with the Chilled Food Association to publish its flagship 'Best Practice Guidelines for the production of Chilled Foods'.

The guidelines are the basis of UK industry self-regulation and have previously been endorsed by the major UK multiple retailers, including Tesco, J Sainsbury, Marks and Spencer, Safeway and Waitrose.

The guidelines will be published later this month and will be available through TSO's bookshops, as well as online from its website.

The guidelines are said to be internationally renowned and form the basis of European industry guidance.

The Chilled Food Association is the industry body that promotes best hygienic practice standards in the production of chilled prepared food.

It represents over 90 per cent of the UK retail chilled prepared market.

Kaarin Goodburn, secretary general of the Chilled Food Association said: "The chilled food production industry relies on these guidelines, so it's essential they are produced to the highest standards and on time.

We know TSO is capable of meeting our own high standards and are happy to have entered in to this partnership to produced them with TSO.".
