Courses Teach Colour Management Skills

A The Colour Collective product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Jul 24, 2007

New 'Introduction to Colour Management' courses to provide the knowledge and skills for people to colour manage their own workflows are being introduced by The Colour Collective.

Created and led by The Colour Collective's technical director, Rob Griffith, each course will be held at Apple Computer's UK offices near Heathrow Airport (UK) in a training centre that includes individual workstations for every delegate.

The first two courses will be held on September 19 and November 21.

The Colour Collective said that places are limited to nine people per course to ensure that every delegate gets the most out of their attendance.

The course contents will be non-platform specific and will be as useful to Windows users and Apple Mac users alike, said the company.

The course is aimed at designers and pre-press professionals, or anybody else that routinely works with colour and colour images on either Mac or PC.

The course will cover colour management theory, monitor calibration, Adobe Photoshop colour settings, assigning and converting profiles in photoshop, printer profiling, printing and soft proofing in Photoshop, and graphics application settings.

Also included will be creating a colour managed workflow, which will be followed by questions and answers.

The Colour Collective believes that the course will provide the necessary groundwork of theory, whilst concentrating on practical exercises that include profile creation, implementation, setting-up the colour management options in such applications as Adobe Photoshop and open discussions will cover common workflow issues.

Bespoke on-site courses in almost any colour management system are also available.

The company added that Rob Griffith has previously run training courses for GretagMacbeth, Canon Europe and The Royal Photographic Society and has colour management experience in a variety of different workflows and market sectors.

Griffith commented: "The success we've had running training courses for many of our corporate clients has proven that by empowering end-users to take control of their colour quality, companies can save time and money, in addition to improving their results." Places on the course can be reserved at The Colour Collective's website.
