The TripleArc Group, and its new print management arm, AccessPlus, has announced a contract with private health provider, BMI Healthcare.

The TripleArc Group, and its new print management arm, AccessPlus, has announced a contract with private health provider, BMI Healthcare The print management contract, expected to be worth up to ?4.5 million over the coming three years, covers all print requirements for BMI Healthcare's 47 private hospitals in the United Kingdom

The company was appointed in February 2004 after a rigorous tender process and started work on the three-year contract, almost immediately.

Commenting on the new contract, TripleArc chief executive Jason Cromack said: "This contract, the latest in a series of recent wins for AccessPlus, is yet another strong indication we have got our print management and technology balance right.

One of our major USPs has always been the strength of our JDF-compliant technology.

This will now be built into BMI Healthcare's print management process to maximise operational efficiencies through the development of a consistent print management process right across the BMI Healthcare Group." This technology, combined with TripleArc's print management experience was critical to the company's success, he added.

Access Plus will receive BMI Healthcare's print requests and tender the business to an approved list of printers on behalf of BMI Healthcare.

It will also be responsible for ensuring that each job meets the agreed specification and quality, complies with corporate style guidelines and is delivered within the agreed time limits and costing structure.

The company will also be developing an on-line print library for BMI Healthcare, where the client can see forms, brochures and leaflets, with descriptions, codes and prices.

This will be complemented by TripleArc's Edit2Print system for editing and proofing standard items such as leaflets, letterheads and business cards online.

Access Plus will also undertake print audits of every BMI Healthcare hospital to assess current stock, usage and pricing levels.

"That is a major task but it is crucial to commence the contract with a thorough understanding of the whole process.

Too many print management companies go in promising the world to clients but fail to take one step back from the start and really assess the needs of the client," said Clive Gotch.

He added that BMI Healthcare's print management needs are quite diverse both in terms of print and logistics.

To maximise the process from the start Access Plus needed to ensure it had considered every aspect.

The audit information will give the company a feel for the real scope of the client's print requirements and the pricing information will enable it to quickly track print cost savings hospital by hospital as the project rolls out.

Clive Gotch, key accounts manager for Access Plus in the Midlands, commented: "We have worked with BMI Healthcare, part of the General Healthcare Group, for a number of years on a limited number of product lines for its hospitals in the UK.

We were approached last year, along with a considerable number of other print management specialists, to tender for all of BMI Healthcare's outsourced print work following the organisation's decision to consolidate its print requirements." Gotch believed Access Plus was selected as the preferred print management supplier for three primary reasons.

"Firstly, we have established over a number of years, a very positive relationship with BMI Healthcare, with the Access Plus account team having extensive experience in private health care sector, print management and marketing services.

Secondly, when we went in with our print management proposal, we set realistic goals for the implementation and roll out of the programme.

We are now working closely with both the designers and some of BMI Healthcare's larger contract printers to ensure a smooth transition to the new procurement system." Ralph Spilsbury, corporate purchasing manager for BMI Healthcare said: "Compared to our current print expenditure we believe we can save up to 15% through the consolidation of all our print management requirements with Access Plus.

For an operation of this size, it is a considerable saving." Effectively having a central hub for all its print requirements would also enable much greater standardisation of the BMI Healthcare brand right across all sites, which was crucial moving forward, he believed.

"The private healthcare market is increasingly competitive and we must present our quality brand.

Brand consistency across all printed material is an important part of this process," he added.

The BMI contract follows the TripleArc Group's recent success in securing the significant print management contract for UK retailer, Matalan.
