Security print specialist Checkprint Ltd, part of the Tall Group, has been named as one of the top 50 UK SME companies to work for in a Sunday Times survey.

Security print specialist Checkprint Ltd, part of the Tall Group, has been named as one of the top 50 UK SME companies to work for in a Sunday Times survey The company was ranked 38th with the success coming just months after being named as a regional winner in the National Business Awards

"This is great news for us," said Martin Ruda, managing director at Checkprint, which works for many of the country's leading banks, building societies and financial institutions.

"We are the country's leading provider of secure print solutions and are a growing and innovative company but we have never lost sight of the fact that our success is down to the team of people who work for us.

It is pleasing that our commitment to our employees has been reflected in our success in these prestigious awards." The Sunday Times has run its 'Best Companies to Work For' listings for the last three years but this is the first time it has organised a separate competition for small to medium sized companies.

Judging is based on the findings of an extensive survey of staff who are asked questions about eight key areas - leadership, their manager, personal growth, well-being, the team they work in, giving something back, the company as a whole and fair deal, which covers pay and benefits.

The listing aims to recognise companies where welfare is to the fore and where flexible working is encouraged.

"The company has supported my development from office junior to customer service team leader in just four years since leaving school and we have had some fun along the way," said Checkprint's Nicky Bloxham.

David Wilkins, another member of the Checkprint team, added: "When I was made redundant from a local employer in 1999 Checkprint's offer to join them as an accounts administrator proved to be the start of a great new career.

After intensive training with some of the company's security and standards experts, I have taken up the role of quality co-ordinator and work with a supportive team of people, all dedicated to making a high quality product in a friendly and exciting environment." In November 2003, Checkprint was one of only five finalists in the SME category of the National Business Awards having been the only company to win two regional awards - one for SME business of the year and the other for its training and development policies.

Earlier in the year, Hinckley based Checkprint was a finalist in the 'Business in the Community' section of the Leicestershire Business Awards and the previous year the company won the Success Through People category.

"We have been building to this success in a national forum for the last few years and are delighted to have been named in the Sunday Times list," said Martin Ruda.

The Tall Group of companies comprises Checkprint in Hinckley, Leicestershire and Tall Security Print Ltd in Runcorn, Cheshire.
